Chemo #3

Today went fine. Julie drove us all down for 1:00 and apparently there were lots of other people booked for 1:00 too. We got in about 3:30 and were home by 6.

There is a tradition on the chemo ward where they ring a bell for anyone who finishes their chemotherapy, and then everyone in the ward, and in the waiting area, claps. It's pretty overwhelming. The bell rang four times today while we were there.

When we got home, Kip managed to eat some soup, crackers and banana bread! She's on new anti-nausea drug that seems to be helping, but it makes her really dopey. But dopey is way better than nauseous. I have a good feeling about this new drug, and hope that this is the round where nausea is almost non-existent!

Thank you for all your thoughts, cards, calls, love. 3 down, 5 to go.

  1. Hi Kip,
Congrats on getting through 3 rounds so strongly. I remember taking great pleasure in crossing off each treatment on my calendar with a really thick sharpie! You are so close to half-way now. 3 is a big milestone though. I actually had a little half-way celebration weekend. I hope the nausea stays away now. Mine definitely was worse for the first rounds and then was way less of an issue after that.
p.s. Michael Franti also helped keep some groove in my days during that time (and still does).
